SuperJew? How Jews Created the Comic Book Industry

Is Superman actually Moses in disguise? This course will examine the amazing influence that Jews have had on the Comic Book industry. Students will learn to 'draw' on their own experiences, as they create their own Jewish superhero.

Gary Jury is an experienced drama and improvisation teacher, and has been performing professionally as an actor, singer and dancer for over 25 years. Gary taught last year’s successful module “Making A Scene: All The World’s A Shtetl”. His favourite colour is plaid.

Week 1 (November 8, 2009)	A history of Jews in the comic book industry
Week 2 (November 15, 2009)	If we could be superheroes what powers would we want and how would use them?
Week 3 (November 22, 2009)	Learning how to draw comics
Week 4 (November 29, 2009)	Making a Secular Jewish comic book (week 1)
Week 5 (December 6, 2009)	Making a Secular Jewish comic book (week 2)
