"While Shaina looks forward to her engaging, hands-on Sunday morning classes every week, my husband and I have come to look forward to the relaxed, welcoming atmosphere of Winchevsky events, and the opportunities to schmooze with our fellow Shule parents." |
Unmasking Purim Shpiels - The Roots of Jewish Theatre Ashkenazi Jews have been celebrating Purim by performing shpiels (plays) since the 15th century. Students will learn how the humble beginnings of these family holiday performances evolved into contemporary Jewish theatre. Students will also make their own Purim masks. Gary Jury is an experienced drama and improvisation teacher, and has been performing professionally as an actor, singer and dancer for over 25 years. Gary taught last year’s successful module “Making A Scene: All The World’s A Shtetl”. His favourite colour is plaid.
